Truly speaking, House like many forms of music is a confab, collage or shall we say evolution of

musical styels that preceded it. During the 80s in New York and Chicago, local DJs used to play

their own sound sets composed of old disco records, new wave, high energy, hip hop and various other

vinyl goodies the locals loved.

The term house was a joke at first, at best a local name for the in house records, in house label,

in house flavor of bump chosen by the DJ. Whether it was Frankie Knuckles or Mr. Fingers, each had

their own special mixes.

After a time home production came into the mix, and DJs went from being just people who played

records to people who invented new music through audio alchemy, fusing the old and the new.
Much like their hip hop counterparts, house DJs pioneered an early era of remix / digital music…

but often with records, casettes and some early electronic instruments rather than computers.

House has always used the “four on the floor,” that is a repetitive pattern of a simple kick drum,

after that is where latin elements come in with shakers and other noise makers.

Most electronica and trance music that you hear today are descended of House, which are descendants

of Disco, which is a descendant of rock and roll, which is a descendant of jazz, which is a

descendant of ragtime and sooner or later we wind up with a caveman with a stick.

The evolution of music is an interesting thing.
