The Ignorance Of Our Privilege
Radioontheshelf
The world can be a beautiful place. It is full of wonder and if treated well can offer us so much. But sadly as humans we often forget the great priviledge bestowed on us. We have worked so hard to get where we are through stone, bronze and iron ages but here today around the world there is so much suffering we have brought on ourselves. We are like lovers who want to hold hands but often form the fist and speak before our brains engage. We are truly ignorant of the privilege nature has bestowed on us.

The ignorance of our privilege
I count the years I note the time I feel your fears they’re just like mine
We are apart on different shores mine’s full of rocks and so is yours
What happened to the sand we stroked
And the castles built with golden hopes
We were entranced the privilege ours we had the love we felt its power
And we could only laugh and smile we were so young and so ill defined
I guess the clouds got in the way we knew they’d have to have their say
Its just the way it has to be the same for you the same for me
When June arrives I’ll take the ferry home I’ll wave farewell to the past I’ve known
And you will walk and sing our song the one you sang when daylight formed
It’s just a step but hard to take the waters edge the bluest lake
I must confess I heard your wish
This was the ignorance of our privilege
