Coming Home

COMING HOME
I’m coming home.
I’m just so tired of roaming, roaming alone.
Oh, mama. I’m coming home.
I’m coming home.
Letting the bones guide me.
Oh, mama. I know you’re arms are open.
It’s just been so long, my heart is frozen.
Oh, mama. I’m coming home.
I’ve been traveling so long,
and I’m ready to come home.

This song emerged from my morning practice which typically includes a turn around the garden with the koshi chimes.
This song emerged as I was preparing for a integrative creative and healing arts workshop I offer called “Gifts of the Mother: Mother as Resource.”
This song also reflects perfectly how I feel about sharing this song at ccMixter; I feel like I’m coming home.
I came to ccMixter 10 years ago. Those first years I was active at ccM were magical for me. This community helped me discover a voice I did not know I had.
Our community embodies the healing practice of listening. Of allowing space for whatever is calling to be expressed. Together, we created a safe space for a DIY-neophytes to share. To practice. Before ccM, I never could imagine myself making music the way I learned to do by part of this community. So many of you have helped me by literally tutoring me on production techniques. Thank you.
The love, appreciation and support I received from each and every one who has ever interacted with my voice and music let me know that what I have to share is beneficial. Thank you. I mean it when I say it is an honor to be part of your creative world.
I am so grateful for this event — grateful to return, reflect, revisit and remix!
The song was originally recorded extemporaneously on my iphone which I held in one hand — koshi chimes in the other.
The additional vocal parts and koshi chime part were recorded in my studio. Everything is recorded using a low level Seinheiser dynamic mic; my other instrument became irreparably damaged a few years ago.
This song, the original recording and all of the subsequent parts are raw reflecting exactly where I am in the moment.
I did the best I could to clean things up. I intend to update cleaner stems as I make progress. (These have a long silence tag at the end that I am working on trimming).

I think I am really lucky that my good intentions seem to be trusted, and my imperfections are tolerated.
I have another track I intend to share as part of this special event. It’s a little something I started working on at least two remix events ago. I’m hoping this time around I actually can see these intentions through.
I love you.
