There's Always a Better Day
Admiral Bob
A personal story with corruption?
Well, a long time ago, I was laid off from work a few months after the government had changed the rules for unemployment insurance, designed to take resources away from my province, and favour the regions where they wanted to collect votes.
I found a job before severance ran out, but the boss at my new job bounced my paychecks all the time. (Personal corruption?)
We were pretty desperate, but both my wife and I remember our poor years as happy years.
I was never the richest guy
They told me I didn’t qualify
Paid in for years, but there were
Other voters to buy
Lying awake, how do I get through?
Just don’t see any way to
You tell me everything will be alright
And I know that it’s true
Refrain:
Wash away this fear I have
Wash away the year’s I’ve spent
Make me like a child again
Chorus:
There’s always a better day
And its not all that far away
Things change, so someday
There will always be a better day
I got a job on Rideau street
By the bakery, I could make ends meet
If he paid me, paid me on time
I could make, I could make ends meet
Kraft dinners, how do we get through?
Just don’t see any way to
I hear you say everything will be alright
And I know that it’s true
Refrain:
Wash away this fear I have
Wash away the year’s I’ve spent
Make me like a child again
Chorus:
There’s always a better day
And its not all that far away
Things change, so someday
There will always be a better day
