Still Digging
Admiral Bob
Cracks in the sun bleached vinyl chair
The grass so high, you barely see it there
The years in this garden now overrun
My leathered hands can’t get it done
Used to be I was new
Not so much now, just like you
Sweat on the brow faded shoes
I’m still digging for my shiny truths
Years in the vinyards and my debts are due
But I’m still digging for my shiny truths
September sun, lower in the sky
Grapes getting dried out on the vine
I put my back in it and I can’t give in
Even if my chance is getting slim
Used to be so easy to do
I can’t find an easy way back to you
Sweat on the brow faded shoes
I’m still digging for my shiny truths
Years in the vinyards and my debts are due
But I’m still digging for my shiny truths
Why oh why do I need so bad
To have all the things I’ve never had?
Sweat on the brow faded shoes
I’m still digging for my shiny truths
Years in the vinyards and my debts are due
But I’m still digging for my shiny truths
The grass so high, you barely see it there
The years in this garden now overrun
My leathered hands can’t get it done
Used to be I was new
Not so much now, just like you
Sweat on the brow faded shoes
I’m still digging for my shiny truths
Years in the vinyards and my debts are due
