I'm Fine (the note)
Anchor
Original lyrics written for Old Dog’s lovely, plaintive piano piece.
“I’m fine”…
Thats all you wrote.
“O.K.?”
Scribbled on a note.
It rains
Every single day
I long
To simply go away.
Blackbirds, in rows upon the line
Rooftops of smoky gray and sooty grime
Sunshine, when will you return?
Suitcase, upon an open bed
Date-book, unmarked - as yet unread…
I sit and read some poet’s verse
Feel all his blessings
And his curse
Undone
Redone and back again
To places
Where we both have been
Sunshine, when will your time return?
“I’m fine”…
Thats all you wrote….
“I’m fine”…
Thats all you wrote.
“O.K.?”
Scribbled on a note.
It rains
Every single day
I long
To simply go away.
Blackbirds, in rows upon the line
Rooftops of smoky gray and sooty grime
