Skye Song (The Promise)
Anchor
On a recent trip to the Isle of Skye a centuries old poem was translated for me from the Gaelic. Those words appear in the final verse of this song. The other lyrics are original. The melody is an adaptation of an ancient tune from Scotland.
If ever I should go
I will come back in spring time
And the sun will shine down
On the paths where we once walked
On the Isle where we lived
The sea was our border
But no borders exist
In the lands of the heart.
This is my promise true
And I will keep it eternally
We shall always be one
‘till all worlds have ended.
Take this token my Love
My own little treasure
Drink deep my friend
Sleep well ‘till dawning.
I also include a second uploaded file - sung with a slightly different cadence & another FLAC file version.
