I started with the acapella without having listened to ditto ditto’s original mix at all. It was great to hear his version finally and how it’s so different, day to night. When I heard it I thought, “Oh well no WONDER I had to adjust timings, I was hearing the vocal phrase starting on beat 1 but it’s a half-beat later /facepalm.”


UPDATE - The current mix is an “alternate” mix, where I’d actually built a SFX intro consisting of city street traffic ambience, given a good distant (off the sides of tall buildings) delay, and put that behind a curtain of rain smacking a windowsill and a water drain nearby. I think it’s a bit of a cleaner mix.
