Island Vacation
Clarence Simpson
Here’s another one from deep in the vaults.
This was actually my final project for a music theory class I took in college. Everybody else was doing very traditional and/or “typical” songs… and I, of course, had to be different. So I wrote this little island tune with steel drums and a weird timing change in the middle. It’s purposefully a little sparse sonically because we had to write an analysis of the song and turn in sheet music for all the different parts.
I’ll share a quick story: I stayed up really late finishing this song the night before we were supposed to play our creation during our final exam time slot. All morning I was excited for the 1pm exam period to come so I could show off what I had come up with. I show up at 1pm only to find that our time slot was actually at 9am. Oops. So nobody ever got to hear this.
Until now. :)
Stems and MIDI are included.
