I’ve been listening to a lot of Satie, Allegri, and Rezső Seress lately… (you know, those bubblegum pop hitmaking machines). Apparently this pushed me toward the less-is-more approach here. There’s many other mixters who could really give Anchor’s great treatment of Yeats the full-blown orchestral arrangement I could hear in my head… but maybe this will inspire them? Anyway, I concentrated on trying to get a warm reel-to-reel-live-recording-to-vinyl kinda earprint with the production, give it that “OOH Look what I found in Dad’s old records” vibe. Getting that soft little “tone-arm-bump” sound right was a pain, but IT HAD TO BE DONE :P
