SURVIVAL
I survive while arranging
My morning like a jigsaw
Puzzle, matching the pieces
With their blank expanse. Just now
I hear a smart knock
At the back of my brain. I tell you,
Truth is the impulse of the moment.
Eternity streams through my body,
Spilling me into craters of wild
Thought; why do doctors
Call this abnormal?
I eat whole boxes of Captain Crunch and
Watch my body
Build into a roar.
Look at me, rising like a hot
Air balloon,
Both hands at my throat.
Everything depends
On my shoulders and claws;
How I press myself
Forward through the crowd,
Grasping at the words of my next phrase.

Puzzle, matching the pieces
With their blank expanse. Just now
I hear a smart knock
At the back of my brain. I tell you,
