Tara lament

I did this a long time ago, but completely forgot to upload it here and give ljova the credit he deserved. The tormented string effects he donated a few years ago gave this sad account of blatant cultural devastation in Ireland the perfect, sad feeling it needed.
I was tacitly involved in the protest against the building of the M3 highway through the Tara-Skreen complex, a place of 3,000-5,000 year-old archaeological structures, and long considered the spiritual, cultural and political heart of Ireland. I had hoped to properly document the struggle while I was there, but failed miserably in this task. The highway was built, immeasurable amounts of historical and archaeological evidence - some of which might have given credence to the myth of the Tuatha De Danann, and other pre-Christian cultures - was destroyed and undocumented. Now the Irish happily and cluelessly drive their new BMW’s over the ground up bones, ritual sites and battlefields of the ancients ones, without so much as a tear for what was loss. Such is the way of progress.
All I have left is this song and some extremely disturbing memories from the days when a few brave people gave everything they had to stand against the madness of insatiable greed and stupidity, all to no avail.
