I bought a book years ago about islands to visit. In the years since, my mind settles on the description of the small island of Sint Eustatius, or Statia. I read that it’s a quiet place, with clear waters, and friendly people. I’ve not yet visited Statia, and perhaps I never will—but it’s a quiet place in my mind, in which
things glide along gently for a few moments at a time.

I sample from DJ Lang so often already that it was a particular delight to be assigned him as my secret mixter person to remix. His material is all so strong—and his samples well-thought-out, so that they are useful to the remixer. I wish, in a way, I could have done a hip-hop remix with so much of the material which lends itself to hip-hop. I found myself better suited, though, to this modest bit of chill.
