Lemons
jaspertine
So, I started, as I often do, with a chord progression, then recorded some loops and variations and changes to go with it… and about an hour into the stream, I had to confront a difficult reality; they were crap.
The initial chord progression and drumloop were fine, but everything I tried to add on top of it just didn’t fit together properly, like pieces of the wrong jigsaw puzzle accidentally put in the wrong box.
In a scramble to have something to show for my work, I decided to just kind of “soundscape it,” so to speak, and dubbed in a series of loose parts that gently float over an otherwise static rhythm section.

edit: There’s also a good 20 seconds of silence at the end of the track, and… um… I’m not sure why.
(People ask me sometimes why I’m so eager to point out my own mistakes like this. The short answer: it’s because I learned something.)
