If you’ve been following these tracks, you know that sometimes I just get the itch to do something that’s just a little bit outside of my skill level, and also that I like uneven time signatures.

Is it ambition or is it ego? Is it a challenge, or an attempt at showing off?

So this track is built on a single chord progression that repeats throughout the song, in 13/8 time, subdivided 3-3-3-4, and it was particularly tough to play. The bass alone took around 20 minutes just to get the loop (which is ultimately made by comping 2 different takes).

One thing that really ends up sticking out is just how much Ableton Live’s interface design struggles with non-standard time signatures ( watch the VOD)
