Stayin' at Home - Vocals
Kara Square
Here are the vocals for my Secret Mixter remix of Duckett. The vocals are DRY and with FX in the zips.
It’s a tongue-in-cheek song for the moment…
I live in Ohio and our state government’s response to the COVID-19 crisis has been excellent. We’ve got an amazing director of the Ohio Department of Health named Dr. Amy Acton who has become a beacon of hope through her calm and inspiring press conference updates. A quote from her: “I want all of you at home to don your cape, don that cape and keep being a force for good.” And another quote: “I need your help, Ohio,” Acton said. “I need you to wear both the cape and the mask, now — you’re definitely a masked crusader — to help protect each other. It’s beautiful weather and I need you to understand we’re fighting for lives now trying to cure stuff like this.”
I share this because Dr. Acton inspired the “hero” line in this song. Please note that I do NOT consider myself a hero. All of the brave essential workers who keep physically going to work are the heroes in my eyes. Those of us working from home and staying outta the way are just lucky and fortunate. But hey, I certainly enjoy government officials making superhero references.
I hope you dig.
p.s. Shout out to my awesome wife, Katie, for helping with the lyrics! Thank you!
LYRICS
Got up this mornin’
Got outta bed
Went to the kitchen
Ate some breakfast
Kept on my P.J.’s
Cuz’ I’m workin’ from home
From the computer
Getting everything done
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
I am and we all are
Stayin’ at home
Time passes quickly
Already noon
Best part of my day
When I get to eat food
Go to the kitchen
Make myself a bite
Lookin’ out the window
No one’s in sight
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
I am and we all are
Stayin’ at home
Wrap up my work day
Head to the couch
So now I’m a hero
For not goin’ out
Readin’ the headlines
Avoidin’ the stores
Doin’ all that I can
By stayin’ indoors
