extra-corporeal shockwave therapy

extra-corporeal shockwave therapy
a wake-up call for the healing of my heels
a kind of ultrasound electrocution
the snappy crack brings back
Philip Glass’ Lightning
you become acclimatized
to the thumping pain
begin to think about
Yahia’s torture in Iraq
wonder how you could ever
endure electrocution
without insanity
yet you slowly
become inured
and drift off into
a kind of reverie
where your foot
is on fire
