Winter Coat

I was sitting in the studio getting busy thinking what I could do as a track for Chapter 6 of my cc serial ebook/concept album “Mirror Mirror”.

I’d decided on doing something with State Shirt’s latest tasty offering “Please Stop”
In walked Sassygals 12 year old daughter as I was attempting to butcher another piece of fine original work.
“Shove over”. She said.
Within 20 minutes she had a new melody and lyrics, then spat out a vocal way beyond her years.
You be the judge, her phrasing and her young Suzanne Vega like intonation blows me away. I’ll get Sassy to post the pella shortly. Many thanks to SS for a wonderful song and Admiral Bob for the little guitar cameo.
Here’s the lyrics;
Winter Coat
On the road of discovey
dont know what I’m gonna find
take me away
to a place
where i belong
where i can clear my mind
(from all the useless thoughts)
i
dont know
where im going
dont know what im gonna find
yeah i cant see
what’s in front of me
im blinded by the light
here i sit
in your winter coat
with the scent of you
in my hand
the letter that you wrote
I need to think of you
(and what you mean to me
i hope you understand)
i didnt have it planned
It wasnt what you wrote
the memory
that I felt
is nothing like your coat
i know it comes out sad
there isn’t time to gloat
your kisses
on my hand
can’t take my heart it wont
with my mind of discovery
you know i think i’d have the time
say those words again to me
before i go and change my mind
‘cause here i sit
in your winter coat
with the scent of you
in my hand
the letter that you wrote
you know I think it too.
(and what you mean to me
i hope you understand)
‘cause here i sit
in your winter coat
with the scent of you
(I didnt have a plan)
in my hand
the letter that you wrote
you know I think it too.
(I know it comes out sad)
(and what you mean to me
i hope you’ll understand)
you know
I think it too
in your winter coat
in your winter coat
the letter that you wrote
in my hand
in your winter coat
i know it comes out sad
the letter that you wrote
in your winter coat
in your winter coat
