Don't Be Afraid
Snowflake
In August one of my dearest and closest friends was diagnosed with late stage Multiple Myeloma. She was told she had three weeks to live. Since then, I’ve been blessed to spend many hours by her side, through some very intense experiences. Because she’s allowed me to walk through this with her, my presence and gratitude for the simple things has increased greatly. She is still fighting. She is still here.
Thank you to Clarence Simpson for an incredibly beautiful guitar track. He wrote “C Minor” for his son who was born prematurely and struggled for life. I searched for days through his amazing catalog of uploads ( inspired by his pledge to help ccM). After reading his story my heart burned to share my own story of struggle to his music. It seemed right. I hope he won’t mind that I cut up his parts into what the songwriter-in -me felt were my verses, choruses, solos and a bridge.
Thanks for listening.
Don’t Be Afraid
for Lauren
Standing close to your bedside
Hoping, watching your breath rise
Stay here hold to your
Faith dear
Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid
Your room flooded with white light
You’ve one foot in and one taking flight
Stay here hold to your
Faith dear
Don’t be afraid dear
Don’t be afraid
Don’t be afraid
Strong yet fragile
Like an angel
Waiting gracefully
For her wings
Now, ah
Holding your hand, praying to understand
A higher plan
Stay here hold to your
Faith dear
Don’t be afraid dear
Don’t be afraid
Don’t be afraid
