I spent several days listening through Scomber’s incredibly rich library of pells, samples and remixes. Admittedly, I’m not best at building a mix around a pell (and Scomber has many excellent ones).
it was magical when I found Vidian’s remix “George’s House” which includes some great excerpts from Scomber’s pell Why. I deconstructed Vidian’s mix and thereby dove into George Ellinas’s samples. I built a mix using some of George’s source, some of Vidian’s remix and Scomber’s pell. I added one of Scomber’s pad stems (it fit perfectly with barely any editing!) and spread some of his Time Machine laughing and other odd sounds throughout. (I used Vidian’s treatment of Scomber’s pell “as is” on a couple of phrases because it sounded so cool!).
I loved Scomber’s lyrics so much, I sang some of them with varied melody and arrangement, turning this track into a duet. I also played bass, a low synth track and added a little sound candy here and there to give it some low end and sparkle. I spent a lot of time editing and adjusting levels — my ears are shot so feedback is welcome!
In honor of the May Day theme, Patronski recorded some pretty darn convincing radio “help” vocals.
I’ll put the pell up in a day or two.
Thank you Scomber, for writing a song I felt so deeply in my heart.
