Falling Into the Dream (3 of 7: Lead Guitar)
Bruce H. McCosar
Lead guitar (melody and improvisation) for the first song on my 4th Jamendo album, Points of Departure: “Falling Into the Dream”
I am releasing all of the original tracks for this album under Creative Commons. This was the biggest song on the album, so I had to take a few extra steps to make sure the files could be uploaded to ccMixter successfully.
1. If a file nickname is “begins_0_min.ogg”, it is a high fidelity stereo .ogg file. If it is sequenced to start at time 0:00, it will line up with all the other time 0:00 tracks to produce the original song.
2. On the other hand, if the file nickname is “offset_5_min.ogg”, it has to be sequenced to start at time 5:00. It will then line up with the other 5’s, the other 0’s, the bass track, and the percussion tracks (see #4).
Of course both of the above are irrelevant if you’re planning on cutting out samples from individual tracks. However, I frequently wish I had the original tracks in sync and in context when I am trying a remix of my own — I figure it can’t hurt.
3. If the file nickname is “30s_preview.mp3”, it is just a 30s preview snippet, a characteristic moment of the track. (Thanks to teru and fourstones for the advice!)
4. Instead of uploading a massive percussion track, I uploaded a zipfile (in Group 1) called fallid_structures.zip. It contains the original Hydrogen drumtrack, as well as a MIDI rendering of the drumtrack. Drop in your own sounds and you are ready to go. (The nickname for this file is “archive: midi, H2, pdf”)
5. Further, for those of you with the old-fashioned manual keyboard sequencer, I have also uploaded sheet music for the main part of the composition (pdf format, found in the zipfile in Group 1). There is a second, smaller composition within the main song (at about 5 minutes) called “Sleeping in Light”; it’s easy to figure out, so I just left it as an exercise for the interested reader ;-)
